In the world of Pokémon, EVs or Effort Values play an important role in determining a Pokemon’s stat growth and strength. In fact, it is impossible to make a fully optimized competitive team without considering EVs. However, there are situations where you might want to remove EVs from your Pokemon. In this article, we will discuss the different methods to remove EVs from your Pokemon.

Method 1: Resetting EVs using Berries

The easiest way to remove EVs from a Pokemon is by using Berries. The different types of Berries that can be used for this purpose are Pomeg Berry, Kelpsy Berry, Qualot Berry, Hondew Berry, Grepa Berry, and Tamato Berry. These Berries decrease a specific EV stat depending on the type of Berry used. For instance, Pomeg Berry decreases HP EVs, Kelpsy Berry decreases Attack, Qualot Berry decreases Defense, and so on.

To use these Berries, you need to go to the Berry field in the game and harvest them. Once you have the Berries, give it to the Pokemon whose EVs you want to lower. Keep giving the Berry to the Pokemon until the desired EV stat is lowered. However, the downside is that you can only lower the stat by 10 EVs, and you might not be able to remove all the EVs from a Pokemon using this method.

Method 2: Using EV Reducing Items

Another way to lower the EVs of a Pokemon is by using EV reducing items. The two items that can be used for decreasing EVs are Reset Bag and Festival Ticket. The former can be obtained by completing a specific Super Training regimen, whereas the latter can be purchased with Battle Points (BP) at the Battle Maison.

Both these items remove all the EVs from a Pokemon. However, they come with their downsides. The Reset Bag can be used only once, and you have to complete a long and tedious Super Training regimen where you have to hit soccer balls and punching bags, among other things. On the other hand, the Festival Ticket costs 48 BP and is quite expensive. Moreover, you might need to spend some time at the Battle Maison to earn BP if you don’t have enough with you.

Method 3: Using Vitamins

Vitamins are another way of increasing EVs in a Pokemon. However, they can also be used for lowering EVs. The vitamins that can be used for reducing EVs are HP Up, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc, and Carbos. Each vitamin decreases a specific EV by 10 points. For instance, using HP Up will decrease the HP EVs by 10 points, Protein will decrease Attack, Iron decreases Defense, and so on.

You can use this method to remove the EVs from a Pokemon if you can’t obtain the Berries for some reason. However, this method can be quite expensive as each vitamin costs 9,800 Poke Dollars. So, if you want to remove all the EVs from a Pokemon, you need to spend around 58,800 Poke Dollars, which can be expensive in the earlier stages of the game.

Method 4: Using the Reset Bag in Super Training

Another way of using the Reset Bag is by playing the Super Training regimen. In the Super Training, you can play a mini-game called Reset Bag, where you have to hit the bags with soccer balls to earn points. Once you reach a certain threshold, you can use the Reset Bag to remove all the EVs from a Pokemon.

The downside of this method is that you have to play the mini-game and earn enough points before you can use the Reset Bag. Moreover, this method can be quite tedious and time-consuming. However, it is a good option if you don’t want to spend 48 BP to purchase the Festival Ticket.

Method 5: Using the Pokémon Day Care

If you have been using the Pokémon Day Care to level up your Pokemon, you might be able to use it to remove EVs as well. The Pokémon Day Care is a place where you can leave your Pokemon to breed or level up. If you leave your Pokemon in the day care for an extended period, they might forget some of their moves and lose some of their EVs.

This method is a bit unreliable as you can’t control which EVs are lost, and you might not be able to remove all the EVs from a Pokemon using this method. Moreover, if you have trained a Pokemon specifically for a specific stat, using this method might not be feasible.

Method 6: Trading Your Pokemon

If you have trained your Pokemon in a specific EV, trading it with another player might help you remove the EV from the Pokemon. When you trade your Pokemon, the ID number of the Pokemon changes, and some of the EVs might disappear. However, this method is a bit risky as you might lose your prized Pokemon, and you might not be able to remove all the EVs from a Pokemon using this method.

Method 7: Using a Glitch in the Game

Finally, there is a glitch in the game that you can exploit to remove the EVs from your Pokemon. This method is a bit risky and involves using the game’s Daylight Saving Time (DST) feature. To use this method, save your game before the DST changes, and then change the clock on your device so that it matches the DST timing. When you load your game again, some of the EVs from your Pokemon will disappear.

However, this method can be quite risky, and there is a possibility that you might lose your saved game due to the glitch. Moreover, using glitches is frowned upon in the gaming community and might lead to negative repercussions.

Removing EVs from a Pokemon can be a tedious and time-consuming process. However, by using the different methods discussed in this article, you might be able to reduce the EVs from your Pokemon and train them anew. Whether you use Berries or Vitamins or exploit the game’s glitches, make sure that you don’t lose your prized Pokemon in the process.
